When most women shop for activewear, they think about the fit.
Maybe the performance.
Maybe whether it is squat proof.
Maybe whether it looks flattering.
Very few are thinking about what the fabric is actually made from.
And honestly, I understand why.
Because for years the industry has conditioned us to think synthetic gym wear is normal.
Polyester.
Nylon.
Plastic based stretch fabrics.
We wear them for hours every day.
We sweat in them.
Train in them.
Sit in them.
Sleep in them sometimes.
Yet almost nobody is talking about what prolonged exposure to these materials may mean for women’s health.
That is exactly why I created Cloco.
Your skin absorbs more than you think
Your skin is your body’s largest organ.
What touches it matters.
Especially during exercise.
When we work out, our pores open.
Body temperature rises.
Absorption increases.
Yet most activewear is still made from synthetic materials treated with chemical finishes, dyes, and coatings that were never designed with women’s hormone health in mind.
That does not sit right with me.
Not as a woman.
And not as someone who works in women’s health every day.
Why I started searching for non toxic activewear
I have spent years helping women struggling with hormone issues, fatigue, inflammation, skin irritation, and cycle problems.
At the same time, I was becoming increasingly aware of how many everyday exposures women are never taught to question.
Clothing was one of them.
I remember trying to find activewear and underwear that aligned with both my values and my professional knowledge.
And it was very difficult.
It was either:
- stylish activewear made from synthetic fabrics
Or:
- natural alternatives that were ugly, uncomfortable and made me completely lack confidence
I wanted clothing that was safe for women’s health without making women feel like they had to sacrifice feeling good in their bodies.
That became the beginning of Cloco.
So what is non toxic activewear?
For us, non toxic activewear means choosing materials intentionally.
It means:
- avoiding unnecessary synthetic fabrics
- avoiding harmful chemical treatments where possible
- using certified safer dyes and materials
- prioritising skin safe fabrics
- creating pieces designed for long term wear, not fast fashion
- choosing organic fabrics only
At Cloco, we focus on fabrics like organic cotton because what touches your skin daily should be chosen with care.
The same applies to non toxic underwear.
The most intimate layers we wear should never be an afterthought.
Why plastic free clothing matters
Most people do not realise that a huge percentage of modern clothing is made from plastic.
Polyester.
Nylon.
Acrylic.
These materials dominate the fashion industry because they are cheap to produce and highly profitable.
But just because something is common does not automatically mean it is harmless.
I believe women deserve transparency so we can choose better for ourselves.
That is why Cloco exists.
To create hormone safe clothing that is flattering.
This is bigger than activewear
This conversation is not really about leggings.
It is about standards.
Women are becoming more intentional about what goes into their bodies.
Food.
Skincare.
Home products.
Clothing deserves to be part of that conversation too.
Because health is not just one decision.
It is the accumulation of what we are exposed to every single day.
And what touches your skin matters.
This is only the beginning.
